AhlulBayt News Agency - The 72 hour ceasefire didn’t last more than 10 hours on Saturday because the extremist rebel forces from the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and Jabhat Al-Nusra (Syrian Al-Qaeda group) chose to attack the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) positions in the Kinsibba countryside of northeast Latakia.
Jabhat Al-Nusra and the Free Syrian Army launched their powerful assault on Qal’at Al-Kinsibba (Kinsibba Citadel) on Saturday morning in order to take advantage of the Syrian Arab Army;s passive defenses in Jabal Al-Akrad (Kurdish Mountains).
Despite the intensity of the assault, the Syrian Armed Forces were able to beat back the Jihadists before they could make any progress at Qal’at Al-Kinsibba.
According to a military source at the town of Slunfeh, the Syrian Armed Forces killed 9 Jihadists and wounded several others before the latter retreated towards the Aleppo-Latakia Highway (M-4 Highway).
Clashes are still ongoing between the two entities; however, the Syrian Armed Forces seem to have this under control.
